When creating a new account in Towbook, you'll notice that you have many types to choose from!

What you may not be aware of is that there are account-specific settings for some account types in Towbook to help streamline the workflow process for these accounts.

Account Types with Account-Specific Settings

Below, you will find a list of account types and what they do:

Automotive Service Shop or Dealership

This account type will default the account's physical address as the Destination Address on calls.

Body Shop

Defaults the account's physical address as the Pickup Address on calls.

Motor Club

• Registration and management of digital integrations.
• The ability to activate Direct Billing for specific clubs.
• The ability to import payments from specific motor clubs.
• The ability to calculate mileage from a different address.

Municipality

• Not billable, unless added as a "Bill To" account.
• This account will not display a balance since you are billing an individual and not the specific account.

Important Note: If you are servicing municipality vehicles and not towing unauthorized vehicles for them, we would recommend using the "fleet" account type.

No Account Specified

You can think of this account as a short-term parking spot for calls. This account is meant to serve as a temporary holding place for calls where an account has not yet been created.

Important Note: It is strongly advised that calls are not left here long-term, as it can create billing challenges, reporting issues, and affect account receivable balances.

Police Department

• This account type is not billable by default unless added as a "Bill To" account.
• It does not include a "Ready to Bill" or "Billed" tab.
• This account type will also not display a balance since you are billing an individual and not the specific account.

Important Note: If you are servicing police vehicles and not towing unauthorized vehicles for them, we would recommend using the "fleet" account type.

Private Property

• Defaults the accounts' physical address as the "Pickup Location" on all calls.
• Option to email notifications to the account contact each time a vehicle is towed from the location.
• Not billable, unless added as a "Bill To" account.
• Does not include a "Ready to Bill" or "Billed" tab.

Storage Facility

• Allows for the creation of 3rd party storage/impound lots associated with the account.
• This is used for scenarios where the impound is stored and invoiced by a 3rd party company.

Transport

• Allows beginning address to be modified on a call.
• Pricing is hidden from driver user types.
• Mileage items - Unloaded/Loaded mileage will not show unless a custom price is set for the account.

There are no account-specific settings for the following account types:

• Broker
• Fleet
• Heavy Equipment
• Individual
• Insurance Company
• Repossession Agency
• Subcontractor (Special functionality coming soon!)
